as noted in most of the American guides Blue-winged Teal are the latest of the wildfowl to emerge from eclipse plumage with males often not attaining full plumage until December or even January; this is though already a very long residence

The three Blue-winged Teal still present this afternoon in front of hide.

Also 124 Teal (only 11 yesterday) & female Pintail.

Flock of 15 Fieldfares in Hawthorn hedge, first of autumn on patch.

The three Blue-winged Teal were still present this afternoon, they were in the west bay before flying to in front of hide and then swimming into the south bay, to right of hide, where they were lost to view.
Also 2 Pintail (1 male just coming out of eclipse) and 4 Pochard.

only two of the blue-winged teal on show. The pair of pintail put in a brief appearance before disappearing in to the reeds

Also 1 Pintail, 19 Cormorants & 17 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

Only one Blue-winged Teal seen at the mere this morning but the other two were probably out of sight in one of the bays.

Also 2 Pintail, 1 Water Rail 1 Kingfisher and 2 Grey Wagtails.

The three Blue-winged Teal still present this morning. At one stage they were right in front of hide bathing and preening and then standing on fallen branch before swimmimg into bay to right of hide.

The 3 Blue-winged Teal were still present this afternoon, also a count of a minimum of 246 Gadwall (I am sure there were others in bays not visible from hide), 41 Shoveler, 2 Wigeon, 1 Pochard & 1 Little Grebe.

Very little small bird activity in strong winds.

Only saw one bird while I was there this morning. Three birds had been seen earlier

Goldcrest 2
Water Rail 2 (heard)
Gadwall c220 - dificult to count with the sun shining directly into the face
