Calling frequently but mostly in high canopy between Sykes Farm and the orchard this morning.

Showed well at the back of the plantation and in the orchard from 11:15 to 12:30, very active and calling frequently.

Apart from the late November report from Holkham Norfolk there are no other reports of this species on Birdguides in 2013 -- since the first record in 1966 there have been 125 accepted records in Britain up to the end of 2012 when there were 3 records (BBRC report)

Lincolnshire now has 3 records of Hume's Warbler out of a British total of 127 but there have been 111 Western Bonelli's up to the end of 2012 and about 14 in 2013 so 125 in total of which there have been exactly 0 in Lincs -- surely the most obvious next addition to the list along with Smurf Scoter

Smurf Scoter is of course clearly identified by it's small size, blue colouration and white cap (sorry Graham - couldn't resist!)

Paddyfield Warbler surely can't be far behind Western Bonelli's as a potnetial Lincs first when considering the number of British records and sightings from neighbouring counties. Either will do.
