On Fri 2nd Jan I saw a Peacock butterfly 'fighting the wind' at Bird's Wood LWT NR near Westwoodside.
I sent the sighting to Lawrie Poole at Lincs Butterfly Conservation who confirmed it was the first butterfly sighting this year for Lincs but alas not nationally has one was seen the day before in Norfolk.
There were also a couple of gorgeous drake Pintail on the quarry lake.
The site is known to birders as Cove Farm Quarry
