Boston – St Botolph's Church (The Stump)
Bob Sheppard and I installed a new nest camera yesterday on Boston Stump at the nest tray which is at a height of 230 feet. Many thanks to Daniel Wade and Phil, one of the stone masons, for their help. This was quite a challenge as, due to complete lack of foresight, the people that built the church made no provision for future electrical wiring and cabling. The day provided a rare opportunity for some breath-taking views (which I don't want to repeat in a hurry!) I'll post a view looking 100 feet down to the tower floor in the album which is not for the faint-hearted. A 40" television will be situated in the café, inside the church, sometime in February so this will provide a good opportunity to get some good views of the nesting birds whilst having a coffee and a break from shopping.

Unfortunately the essential stone repairs to the tower have taken longer than programmed due to the fact that some old repairs 50 years ago had used modern cement rather than lime mortar. Works are not now due to finish until too late for the Peregrines to be able to nest there this year, so they are likely to breed at an alternative site nearby Hopefully they will breed at the church again in 2016 as the Peregrines continue to spend time around the church and regularly roost on the scaffolding.
Bottesford – St Mary's Church
Although just outside Lincolnshire, we thought we would just let you have an update for here. There are currently works taking place within the church which includes the area where one could view on the screen the Peregrine breeding activity on the tower above. These works mean that unfortunately it will not be possible to put in the television screen to observe what is going on this year. The good news is that this work should not interfere with the breeding Peregrines in our nest tray on the tower.
