Seems like there were a few birds on the reserve today;

Great white egret - one at dusk on the saltmarsh (Anthony Bentley)
Black brant - one this afternoon on the scrapes
Peregrine - adult female
Merlin - 3
Hen harrier - 1
Marsh harrier - male
Scaup - 1st winter male on the Reedbed
Golden plover - 3041 on Marsh Farm
Lapwing - 1359 on Marsh Farm
Wigeon - 1945 on Marsh Farm
Whooper swan - 27
Brambling - 1
Bullfinch - 2

Twitter account reporting sighting of Great White Egret.... can you confirm this? Want to try and get my Number 1 'Bogey Bird' twitched once and for all - 9 twitches for it, 9 Dips!

I forgot a few things from yesterday;
Water pipit - one from 360 hide and there were actually five hen harriers (two males, two females and a juv).
No sign of the GWE this morning, but I'm sure it's still about somewhere. There was a male hen harrier, two avocets on the reedbed and a spotted redshank on the saltmarsh.
