Whilst walking past the cathedral this afternoon I heard a Peregrine calling and the male flew in with food. He landed on the nest tray and the female took the prey and flew on to the east side of the tower and proceeded to eat it in a flurry of feathers.
Does anyone know if there is a camera on the nest this year?

Hi Andy

No there will not be acamera on the nest this year , there is one up there but unfortunately it cannot be moved .

The cathedral works department have confirmed the presence of eggs in the south east corner of the main tower viewed from the south side in Minster close. Look for the wooden platform at the base of the right handside louvre and that is the nest site tucked in to the buttress .

I suspect you witnessed one of the incubation ' change overs ' .

Hi Andy,

I recently contacted RSPB LINCOLN and asked the same question. I was informed :

"Unfortunately, the RSPB's East of England Regional Office has, reluctantly, been unable to provide a member of staff to run the (peregrine) event this year or to provide funds for a nest camera that would have provided views from the nest on the RSPB website."

"The good news is that the Lincoln Local Group will be purchasing a small 'pop-up' marquee and will try and continue to run this popular event with volunteers from the group - on Cathedral Green 11.30 - 16.40 every Saturday and Sunday in June and July." (re telescope, binoculars, info, etc).

The latest news is that the birds are sitting on eggs and this year they are on the south-east side of the main tower.

Freddy
