The Blue-winged Teal was still present. Other highlights were 3 Sandwich Terns north at sea, Hen Harrier, Peregrine, 6 Wheatears, Cuckoo, 2 Long-tailed Tits and 4 Redwings. Light increases of most summer migrants apparent. Two Common Redstarts reported on the realignment area.

The Blue-winged Teal remained on site. Generally, it was quite obliging, but it would skulk practically out of sight at times. It was seen by several observers including GPC, ND and Dave Hursthouse. Most noteworthy other birds were 2, or possibly 3 Jack Snipe, a Whimbrel, Cuckoo, Wheatear, Grasshopper Warbler, Reed Warbler and a stunning male Common Redstart.

Despite a comprehensive search, Barry Clarkson and I were unable to locate the bird this morning.

After some further fruitless searching, the Blue-winged Teal suddenly flew in to the small pond south of Quad 3 at about 1pm and showed well, but briefly, before swimming in to the cover on the far side of the small island. It continued to show intermittently.

Also 5 Wheatears, 2 Cuckoos, at least one Grasshopper Warbler and a flyover Whimbrel on the long walk from Howden's Pullover.

The Blue-winged Teal was on its regular pool before flying across to the flash where it remained from 1015. Best of the rest were singles of Jack Snipe, Ring Ouzel and Marsh Harrier.

The Blue-winged Teal still present this morning, but not a great deal else recorded in the strong cold wind.

Despite a good search, I was unable to find any trace of the Blue-winged Teal. However, from previous experience, it may well be skulking somewhere out of sight.
