Morning,

Just received a call from Andy Simms to say Russell Hayes had a Squacco Heron at Kirkby on Bain pits this morning. It was on the main pit but flew over the road to one of the pits adjacent to the landfill site

Great find this morning by Kevin Shone at approx 9:00am.
Kev rang me to say he had found an unusual Heron and needed some advice to ID it.
I dropped the job I was doing and sped down to the pits to help ID the bird.
I knew straight away that it was a Squacco Heron having seen plenty before overseas.
We put the news out at approx 9:30am but while on the phone to Andy Sims the bird took off from the main pit and flew towards the Landfill Pits.
After further searches by ourselves and others who had arrived we could not relocate the bird by 11:00am when I had to leave for home.
Well done Kev for finding a Lincs Mega.

Keep us informed if it's relocated....... I'll be even more vigilant at Frampton for the next couple of days!
