Reported and seen well in field's between and behind the 'Ark' and main 'Donna Nook' car park.

The harrier was found by Steve Lorand flying near Ark Road early afternoon. I relocated it just after 2pm over the realignment area. It hunted the area for about quarter of an hour before flying over Steve Meek at Stonebridge car park. It was then watched a little while later perched near Ponderosa before heading south.

A short while later a ringtail harrier, almost certainly the Pallid, was seen heading back north. It was then last seen by GPC back over the realignment area about an hour before dusk.

The Pallid Harrier flew across Ark Road in front of me as I cycled from the dunes at 1257. It headed swiftly northwards towards Stonebridge and thence to the realignment area. It was a good day with quite a few new migrants. Other headline species were a Pallas's Warbler which was trapped and ringed at the south end at 0925 and a Little Bunting which was found at Pye's Hall. Other migrants at the south end included 200 Redwings, 34 Fieldfares, 40 Blackbirds, one Ring Ouzel, 15 Robins, 11 Bramblings, 40 Goldcrests, 2 Chiffchaffs, one Blackcap, one Woodcock and 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers. Also seen were 7 Long-tailed Tits and a Black-tailed Godwit. Additional birds noted at Pye's Hall included one Long-eared Owl, one Merlin and one Greenshank.

Thanks for the call James, I was very pleased to get a crippling view through Steve Meek's scope when the bird was perched on the manure heap by the track down to Ponderosa at around 2.50pm.

Derick, I don't think anyone has ever claimed this forum is at the forefront of instant communication. As you will have noted people usually catch up on here by the end of the day. It can be difficult and time consuming to update the forum from a mobile phone in the field and most present won't have got home till after 6. Mobile phones are still best for passing on speedy news and there were several red hot ones at Donna Nook this afternoon, including mine.

Hi Phil. Your right but it could be better!
I'm not having a go at any individuals or the club, just suggesting that with today's technology at our disposal and the will to make it happen. LBC members can in future receive a much faster news service than we recieved today.

If one if those red hot phones you mentionand posted just one message on LBC twitter feed, it would have been instant bird news for all LBC Twitter users (Only takes seconds) and for those members who don't/won't use twitter, then the moderators as they do now, could post the news asap.

Not everyone uses twitter, I'm a twit I only half use it! Though I believe some present had learned about the bird through twitter via Johnny Mack.

Some Linc's birders I've spoken too recently either said they don't use @lincsbirding twitter, as its not quick enough. Others said it should & could be but dont understand why it isn't.

There was no sign of the harrier during the morning watch at the realignment area ahead of the rain, however it reappeared in the afternoon. It hunted over the area and spent periods sitting on posts and a bramble bush next to the Stonebridge car-park. It delighted observers until 1530 when it departed across the fields to the south.
