A sunny mid afternoon walk along the 'Woodhall Spa Trail' west of Horncastle from '50-acre' car park to a short distance past the Martin Bridge car park and return
gave a good number of bird species :-

Grey Heron 1 on canal bank
Grey Partridge 2 on stubble field
Fieldfares 40+ " " "
Yellowhammers 8
Pied Wagtails 15+ on pasture land alongside group of Highland cattle.
Goldfinches 8+
Chaffinches 6
Blue Tits 6
Great " 3
Dunnock 2
Robin 2
Blackbird 2
Mistle Thrush 1
Wren 1
Pheasant 4
Magpie 1
Mute Swan 2
Herring Gulls 4
Black Headed Gulls 20+
Rooks 50+
Wood Pigeons 10

21 species on what was a short walk.

Same walk as Wednesday afternoon but less sun and less birds.
Highlights were :-

Lesser Redpoll 6+
Yellowhammer 1
Greenfinch 1
Chaffinch 5+
Reed Bunting 1
Fieldfare 10+
Linnet 1
Pied Wagtail 2

Total of 17 species

Even with a cold, brisk southerly wind blowing, this regular walk along the 'Woodhall Spa Trail' west of Horncastle gives steady numbers of birds.
Not so many species this afternoon but highlights were :-

Lesser Redpoll 3
Greenfinch 1
Fieldfares 40+
Lapwing 107 On pasture field the other side of the canal.
Kestrel 1 Flew low and fast between the trees across the path in front of us.
Buzzard 1 Low over small wood nearby.
