This morning I was amazed to flush 6 Teal out of the tops of a line of Alder trees.
These trees are by the side of a densely overgrown marshy area between the old Skew bridge tip and Swanpool wood, part of the original Swanpool. I regularly hear Teal calling in this area, even as late as early summer and I suspect they could possibly breed here.
Has anyone come across, or heard about, this behaviour in Teal?

I've seen Teal perched on dead tree stumps at Raithby Lake maybe 2 or 3 feet above the water level but never seen one (or six!) perched high in the branches of a tree. BWP does not mention this behaviour so it cannot be that frequent. I wonder if your observation was the result of over exuberant mating flights? I mean of course by the Teal, not by you!

I call for the resignation of the chairman for bringing the club into disrepute. [-X
