What's the deadline?

Is there a prize for the first correct answer out of the hat?

Jim,

There is NO answer, this in NOT a quiz. I am not sure I can identify this bird... I didn't see or photograph the bird. There are NO more images...

The file properties on the images show they were all taken within 3 minutes of each other, so it is the same bird in each photograph. The bird was photographed north of Boston. The story was that the birds flew south and then return north on 30th April 2016 and this fits with the file sequence; three taken close together (including the ‘best’ image) and the final image taken about 2 minutes later. Therefore, I am happy they all show the same bird.

I have asked a few people for comments and I have be given three answers... marsh harrier, common buzzard and black kite.... although, all agree that the images are not ideal!

What do you think....

Presumably this relates to the reported Black Kite at Kirton Marsh (just south of Boston) from 30/04/16 (see here: http://www.southlincsarchive.uk/Lincs-Sightings) ?

I'll decline to stick my neck out here as that hasn't turned out well in the past but this really does illustrate how 1 bird can look like 3 or more species from different angles.

The images were supplied by Dave Satterswaite. They were taken north of Boston on 30.04.16.

Unfortunately, I misunderstood his request to share the images and he has asked me to remove the pictures from the website, which I have now done.

I would like to apologies to Dave for this misunderstanding....

Since posting the picture I have received a considerable amount of correspondence regarding the identification of this very interesting bird, but feel it is no longer appropriate to publish...

Why didn't Dave S want his pix to appear? Bit disappointing that any prospect of a lively exchange of opinions has now been knocked on the head.
