Amazingly a Camberwell Beauty Butterfly flew into my garden strongly from the east at 17:45 this afternoon, circled around a few times and continued flying westwards.
Apologies for posting a Butterfly sighting in this section but as not many people view the Butterfly Sightings page I have posted it here in the hope that more people will read my post and more eyes will be on the lookout for more of this fabulous Butterfly.

Superb sighting! Thanks for posting that - I would have missed it on the butterflies page. Perhaps there's a case for sightings of birds, butterflies, bats etc all to share a single page.

If it ain't broke don't fix it, Jim.

It doesn't take a matter of seconds to look down all the different forum pages to see new topic additions. I do it most days.

Yours stuck in his ways
James

Seen again in my garden at half past eight this morning on Buddlia by Monica and briefly by myself in flight. No chance for a photo as yet. Proving to be very elusive as lots of Buddlia in gardens around mine!! It is a very fast flyer!

Having been born ( :D ) in Camberwell - Kings College Hospital - I feel this is a species it is my duty to see.

Edmund, please send it north up the county coast - and, once again, heartiest congratulations on detecting/ reporting it. =D>

(Point taken, James - I will be more thorough in future.)

It would be interesting also to be informed of out-of-county sightings, would it not?

Sadly the restriction that makes it difficult for non-club members to post messages makes it unlikely that such information will become available - at least on this website.

Does no one else in the club believe in the principle of free exchange of knowledge?

Sorry, Andy, and everyone else - the opportunity came up, and I couldn't stop myself. In the event of continuing lack of support from members, I'll need to come up with a subtler strategy. :?
