In St. Mary's Park Mablethorpe at 1.30 p.m. today I saw briefly a robin-sized bird with a bright blue tail fly into cover, but did not manage to relocate it.
St Mary's park is at the end of Parklands in Mablethorpe and the bird was seen from the footpath that runs around the park near the large willow trees South of the car park.

In my limited experience of r-fb's (about a twentieth of a second), that's par for the course for the species. They decide if they want to be seen, not the other way round. A bit of a tease as someone at Donna Nook said yesterday. Here's hoping someone else managed to catch up with Paul's bird and confirm his id.

Incidentally, is it an illusion or are bluetails' eyes slightly larger than those of other chats or flycatchers?
