It is with sadness that I report the passing of Dave Bradbeer today after a short illness. "Bradders" was my birding mentor, a well respected birder and one of the true characters of Lincs birding. I knew of nobody more dedicated to the hobby than Bradders and he was actually taken ill whilst out birding.

A very sad loss

Chris

Very sad news Chris.

We knew he had collapsed at Horseshoe Point when looking at the Pallid Harrier, but hoped that he might pull through.

Sad news indeed. I knew Dave for forty years. Always forthright in his views, always a good birder, always enthusiastic. I'll miss him and Lincolnshire birding has suffered a great loss

A very sad day. Won't be the same birding my/our patch with the knowledge I won't bump into him.

Often took the mickey out of my birding 'skills' but I knew it was in jest and he was just trying to help me become a better birder.

He gave me plenty of tips on ID where others wouldn't have.

RIP Dave.

Saddened to learn of Dave's passing. I met Dave only a few years ago whilst birding locally and it was this - his passion for local birding - that I admired so greatly. Many will know that Dave was a keen patch worker and observer of local wildlife. He was, as James has mentioned, very generous with his knowledge and I too will regret that I will no longer bump into him whilst out and about.

My thoughts are with his family.

Josh

Very sad news. Bradders was not only a superb birder and photographer but also, as other posters have said, unfailingly generous in sharing his expertise and awareness.

He always posted unusual sightings from his Cleethorpes patch as soon as possible so that others could benefit from his finds.

He will be greatly missed.

Jim

Sorry to hear the sad news. Dave was one of the first Lincs birders I met; in the middle of nowhere, somewhere near Tetney Lock.
One of a kind, he will be missed.

Russell

I concur with previous posts , some years since I last chatted with Dave and shared some humour
as well as birding.

Only met "Bradders" once on my first trip to Tetney Lock with DJ it was the windiest and most foulest day but we had a good laugh. I will also miss his reports and humour.

R.I.P.

Heard the sad news of Dave's death whilst I was in Tanzania, another of Lincs stalwart birders gone.
I last saw Dave the week before he was taken ill when he came to my house to pick up a scope I was selling.
Fond memories of enjoying cups of tea with Dave on his allotment when I was doing bird surveys on the allotments.
A true patch birder with many good finds to his credit, he will be greatly missed.

Really enjoyed the times when I met Dave, usually between Humberston Fitties and Tetney Lock Area.
Mine of information.
Ditto all of the above.
I'll miss his reports and the stuff on his Blog / Photos on it.

Thanks Dave top man
