A grim start to the year from a weather perspective. Couple of hours out and about this morning starting at Kirkby Pits but only covering the southern half.
Water Rail - 1 Shelduck - 1 Pochard - 1 Wigeon - 2 Shoveler - 5 Tufted Duck - 30 Mallard - 33 Teal - 36 Gadwall - 81 Coot - 88 Black-headed, Herring and Great black-backed Gull coming and going.
River Witham from Tattershall Bridge to Kirkstead Bridge
Teal - 1 Wigeon - 5 Gadwall - 5 Tufted Duck - 11 Mallard - 13 Cormorant - 3 Little Grebe - 8 Kestrel - 1
Martin Fen
Buzzard and 2 Kestrel while travelling home
Dunston
A quiet afternoon walk after the rain had cleared up with a flock of c. 50 Linnet perhaps the most notable.
