At least five of these tiny moths feeding on our origano today. They have only recently appeared as we have been checking frequently - with this being the usual plant that they come to.

Roy , I found a couple of these moths in my garden ( the section we keep in a wild state )over the weekend.
Could not find in field guide .. are they classed as micros ? do they have an english name ?

Pardon the intrusion.

Yes, they are Micros.

Look at page 13 of the thick field guide Moth book illustrated by Richard Lewington.

There were several of these moths at Crowle Moors a couple of weeks ago.

I think that it is a pyrale which are usually grouped with the microlepidoptera.
It is in our book 'British Pyralid Moths by Barry Goater.
I do not know of any other other name for them.

These 2 species auralis and purpuralis are often confused. The common name seems to be mint moth.
