Could someone i,d the plant that is growing in my garden please.
i have placed a photo in the album. Its about 6foot high and wide, and very bushy, i have left it growing because it looks good and attracts insects. Colin Pumfrett.

Hi Colin

Your plant is 'Apple of Peru' Nicandra physalodes. Although it is occasionally grown as a garden plant it more often comes up as a casual from bird seed. If you're sure it wasn't sown deliberately, the record is of interest. There aren't many reports of genuine casual occurrences in Lincolnshire, I think three since 1987. Do you have a OS grid reference you could supply?

Bill
